Chute/Tarr Woods

CHUTE/TARR FARM
8.6 acres off Bridge Street
Hamilton

Gift of George E. Tarr
and Mary Ann Chute

Chute/Tarr Farm is 8.6 acres of woodland on the left side of Bridge Street in Hamilton as it approaches Rt. 22 and the Hamilton-Essex town line. The gift of George E. Tarr and Mary Ann Chute, it is a superb example of what East Hamilton was like prior to the intense land development in the last 40 years. We are grateful to George and Mary Ann for their generosity, respect for this quiet piece of land, and faith in the land trust to keep it as it is.

Chute/Tarr Farm Turkey Tail Fungus

Turkey Tail fungus covers
an old log at the Chute/Tarr
Farm Reservation.

Land, then, is not merely soil;
it is a fountain of energy flowing
through a circuit of soils, plans,
and animals.
