Taft Woods, located in Hamilton, is one of the Land Trust’s larger parcels. This site is accessible from Taft Row in Hamilton. This site is mainly accessible in the summer and fall. It can be wet in the spring. This site contains numerous types of amphibious life, such as toads, frogs, and salamanders as well as typical wildlife such as deer and fox. A wide sampling of trees exists at this site, the most common of which are Beach, Pine and Oak. One end of the sanctuary contains a small pond, which makes for a satisfying resting place or picnic area. Many foot paths lead to this pond, and other improvements are planned.

It is not so much for its beauty that the forest
makes a claim upon men’s hearts, as for that
subtle something, that quality of air that emanation
from old trees, that so wonderfully changes and renews a weary spirit.

—Robert Louis Stevenson
