WHIPPLE Gift of Linda Greeley This area was gifted by Linda Greely and Paula Minichiello and the balance from Ted and Ella Johnson. Candlewood Island is adjacent to the Whipple site and is located within Mass Audubon’s reservation. Access to Candlewood Island is from the Ipswich River. Adjacent to the site is Colt Island which is privately owned. The owner of Colt Island permits the use of the facility for day trips and overnight camping. This site is mainly marsh with mild upland area. During the dry season, this site may be accessible by foot from Colt Island. Colt Island is well maintained with walking paths that are well defined. With the exception of some debris from campers, the site is very clean. |
